SpongeBob SquarePants is a sea sponge, and well, he wears square pants (actually they're shorts). He lives in "a pineapple under the sea" with his pet snail, Gary ("mowwww...") in the quaint little town of Bikini Bottom. Although his age is not specified, I'm assuming SpongeBob is at least sixteen years old since he has a job and an unusual liking for it as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab. SpongeBob is always earnest and has the best intentions. But, sometimes he tries too hard and ends up causing trouble for himself and the characters around him. He's very optimistic and enthusiastic no matter the situation. He often spends his spare time "jellyfishing." I just can't get over how cute his laugh is.

Patrick Star

  

Patrick Star is SpongeBob's next door neighbor and best friend. He is a not so bright starfish. His memory is not the greatest. Even though his intentions are good, his advice usually ends up causing trouble, also.

Sandy Cheeks

  
Sandy Cheeks is an action seeking, sea-dwelling squirrel. She lives in an underwater dome and must wear an underwater, oxygen-filled suit when she ventures away from home. She is the apple of SpongeBob's eye and his "action-adventure" buddy. She is a Texas born native and her accent shows it ("howdy, ya'll"). Sandy is Bikini Bottoms only resident rodent.

Squidward Tentacles

  

Squidward is a party pooper. Everyone and everything annoys him, especially SpongeBob and Patrick. Not only does he spend all his working hours with SpongeBob at the Krusty Krab, but he is also the next door neighbor. SpongeBob is clueless enough to really like Squidward, especially his clarinet playing. Much of Squidward's time is spent in a ploy to get SpongeBob to move out of his pineapple next door.

Eugene Krabs

  
Mr. Krabs owns the Krusty Krab, and needless to say is SpongeBob and Squidward's boss. Portraying the typical TV boss, Mr. Krabs is all about the "benjamins." He is usually sitting in his office counting his "moolah." He doesn't have the highest tolerance for SpongeBob's personality, but he's more than happy to take advantage of SpongeBob's willingness to work long hours for little pay (shame). Mr. Krabs has a constant battle with his fast food rival, Plankton, owner of "The Chum Bucket." The only person that has control over Mr. Krabs, besides his money, is his daughter, Pearl (a whale; I don't have an explanation as to how a crab can have a daughter who is a whale.).

Gary Snail

  

Gary Snail is SpongeBob's cute and reliable pet. He usually sees the problem with SpongeBob's ideas, but he can't speak words, only "mooowwww...'s." Personally, I think he's the cutest character on the show.
